Ergonomics…

Just wanted to put a link to a great article on the science of ergonomics.

It’s something which applies as much to effective software design as it does to milk cartons or portable music players. 

That page design that requires the user to constantly scroll within a tiny window to see their document?  Or the excessively large button strip that houses rarely used functionality but takes up precious screen real-estate, pushing the user’s content down below the fold?  These things aren’t just usability concerns, they’re ergonomic flaws. 

Software ergonomics: It’s the difference between creating a frustrating and a rewarding user experience.

It’s as simple as that.
